Balsa is one of the lightest woods in the world. Pale, soft, porous and light, it grows to a height of 18 to 20 metres in 5 or 6 years.
Balsa is used in the construction of architectural models, in model making and in industry. It is easy to cut with a cutter.
Samba is a more rigid type of wood and is darker in colour (pale yellow). It is used by professional architects, as well as by arts & crafts and DIY enthusiasts. It can be cut, glued and painted.
Beech is extra hard with tight fibres and a smooth surface. It is used to create models and mobiles. It is easy to sand, polish and nail.
The brass tubes are telescopic and are used to reproduce the metal in a mock-up or a three-dimensional model.
