Download and print the vase templates at full size by clicking the link above.
Transfer these shapes onto the Airplac Black, White, and CORE boards.
To transfer the templates, use tracing paper or cut out the printed sheet to use it as a pattern.
Position the templates in the corners of each sheet to save material.
Cut out all the pieces using a precision cutter, a metal ruler, and the cutting mat. Make sure every cut is perfectly perpendicular to the foam board.
For straight lines, use the metal ruler.
For curved lines, follow the traced outline freehand, carefully, keeping the blade perpendicular to the cutting surface.
For curved shapes, insert the cutter blade into the foam board and rotate the board itself around the blade, following the traced curve.
This gives you better control and produces a cleaner, smoother cut.
Once all the pieces are cut, you can finish them by running the flat of your fingernail along the foam-board edges to smooth and clean them.
Create notches along the edges of shapes A and B to build clean right angles:
on the back side of shape A, draw a line 5 mm from the edge along one of the sides.
Using the ruler as a guide, run the cutter along this line, cutting through the top cardboard layer and the foam, while leaving the bottom cardboard layer intact.
Gently slide the cutter blade horizontally to remove the top cardboard layer and the foam, leaving only the front cardboard layer of shape A intact.
Do the same on the opposite side of shape A, and on both sides of shape B, on the back.
You will obtain notches or grooves along the edges of the shapes, ready to receive the thickness of shapes C and D.
Apply TAC adhesive to one side edge of shape C.
Glue this edge along the groove of shape A, ensuring it is perfectly perpendicular and the edges are properly aligned.
In the same way, apply adhesive to the edge of shape D and glue it to the other side of shape A.
Using the TAC sheet, apply adhesive to the outer edges of shapes C and D (the edges opposite the ones already glued).
Glue shape B perpendicular to shapes C and D, making sure everything is properly aligned.
In the same way as in Step 3, cut notches into shapes E and F.
Apply adhesive to one side edge of shape G and glue it along the groove of shape E.
In the same way, glue shape H to the other side of shape E.
Using the TAC sheet, apply adhesive to the outer edges of shapes G and H (the edges opposite the ones already glued).
Glue shape F perpendicular to shapes G and H, ensuring everything is properly aligned.
Slide the white tower into the black tower.
Place a vase in the center of the double tower, fill it with water, and arrange a flower bouquet.
Your Babel Vase is complete.
